Getting to the Isle of Tiree
The Isle of Tiree is a beautiful, remote island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland — and getting there is part of the adventure!
✈️ By Air. Flying is the fastest way to reach the island and great for short breaks or workshop trips. Early booking is recommended, especially in summer.
- Loganair flights from Glasgow
Regular scheduled flights from Glasgow Airport (GLA) to Tiree Airport (TRE) take about 40–45 minutes, with stunning views of the Hebrides on a clear day. Book flights and check timetables via Loganair. - Hebridean Air Services
Offers flights between Oban Airport (OBN) and Tiree, commonly operating mid-week. Book flights and check timetables via Hebridean Air Services
🚢 By Ferry. The ferry is a scenic and memorable way to travel. Ferry travel offers amazing coastal views and the chance to bring extra gear (like surfboards, bikes or art materials) with you.
- Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) operates a ferry service from Oban on the Scottish mainland to Tiree, with a stop at Coll en route. The crossing takes around 4 hours. You can bring vehicles (book those in advance — spaces fill up fast in peak season). Timetables vary seasonally, so check schedules and book tickets on the CalMac site.
🚗 Getting Around After Arrival. Once on Tiree, you can easily get around by:
- Car hire (e.g. local services like Toraz Car Hire)
- Bike hire (perfect for exploring at your own pace)
🛏️ Accommodation Options on Tiree. Whether visitors want simple self-catering, cosy B&Bs, hotels with views, or budget-friendly hostels, Tiree has a range of great places to stay. Early booking is strongly recommended, especially in summer months when availability is limited.
